What alarms me more than Breitbart's spin is that it's not reported anywhere else at all. Maybe it didn't happen. But if it didn't, the story mentions an Amtrak employee as the witness; the story also says an Amtrak media relations manager confirmed the incident, so if it didn't happen Amtrak...
I'm a little surprised to see this. I took the CL from WAS to CHI this past April and the dining car was great. The staff especially, and I wrote a commendation to Amtrak about them.

I work and live among some who think that nearly all Amtrak riders, fans, employees and advocates are exactly such people.
I've been hoping it was unusual. I was watching it to see if it was reasonable to expect to make the CC connection to SJC from EMY when I take the CZ this fall. The earlier one (543) looks real iffy, unfortunately the later one {547) doesn't look that much better - I'm hoping not to stay...

I took the Cardinal to WAS and took the CL on the trip back to CHI for the same reason you are. I had never been on either of them, I had heard about the Cardinal but I thought that the CL was almost as scenic.
