We are booked in a bedroom from Houston to San Antonio (3 passengers). Due to the floods our train has been cancelled and buses are now in place instead.

Obviously we understand these things happen. However, the only reason why we were getting the Amtrak was to experience it (we are visiting from the UK).

Could anyone advise:

If Amtrak moves you to a bus can you cancel (it would be cheaper and quicker for us to get the Greyhound if we have to get a bus anyway).

If we can't cancel...

Hi,

I'm checking availability for business class on the maple leaf from Buffalo to NY and I see it's always sold out, unless it's far out in advance. I see all other trains going from Buffalo to NY have availability, but not the maple leaf.

I also don't understand why they have 3 trains early morning, and then one train at 1pm. Shouldn't it more spread out?

It looks like the FEC got things rolling well ahead of the All Aboard Florida announcement; this blog notes a PR stating that they're expecting to have their go/no-go study done this month (i.e. June). Considering that I've never even heard of a half-decent non-poll study turning around that quickly (Two months? Really?), this tells me that they started the planning on this a while ago...I'm going to guess that they started immediately after the Orlampa project collapsed.*

Not that I can...

About a week ago I noticed that Amtrak tracking (and asm.transitdocs.com which feeds off Amtrak) no longer tracks once the train is much past the Canadian border. Last tracking point is usually around where the train turns north between White Rock and the Nicomekl River. The times into Vancouver largely remain "estimated" or are updated to arrived long after actual arrival.

Until recently it used to actively track all the way into VAC. Anyone know why they stopped? Amtrak no longer...
