I appreciate all the comments back from members like: rr dude, railbuck, jim hudson, caravanman, amamba, steve4031 and others. Yes, there are so many ways of improvement when it comes to passenger appeal with Amtrak. I really don't need to travel by train....we have a very nice motorhome...

First off, I want to thank all the members who gave my wife and I all kinds of advice, your experiences, and thoughts prior to our trip. We had hoped for a happy experience but came up quite abit short of that. We boarded the #98 in Orlando for travel to Washington, DC then the #29 to Chicago...

Thanks everybody for the re-affirmation....I had looked at the reviews for the Days Inn and started to question my judgement about the place....but that where we will hang our hat for the night and then also on the night before we leave to come back east.

Any recommendations for motels close by MSP train station....I was told about Days Inn there....anybody been there or anything else???

I AGREE - after starting this thread with a simple question and then being accused as being anti-union amongst other things. I am a retired SEIU Transit member with 30 years of transit driving and that would have been the furthest thing from my mind ANTI-UNION. It has gone from a simple...

Hopefully this doesn't happen...we didn't pay to ride a bus (MSP to CHI), but in the outside chance that it does...do they dead-head the bus to CHI or do they stop at all the regular stops of Amtrak???

Wonder what happened to it....it sits in St.Paul.....almost 12 hours late. AMTRAK status says "service disruption"........at that point, what do they do with the people on board and the people that were waiting to leave at 7:50am this morning. I'm new around this stuff.....so don't be to...

What is going on with AMTRAK and schedules??? I go on AMTRAK Status and everyplace I look trains are late. By late I mean 2,3,5, and even 7 hours and more. Is this a "slowdown" perpetrated by unions?? Is this being done intentionally by someone?? Is this due to the larger than expected...

OK, this would be the "what if".........we will be scheduled to leave MSP on 16th of August on the #8 to CHI.....however because of lateness (which seems to be the pattern) of the #8, we miss our connection to the #30 from CHI to Washington where we are scheduled to again connect to the #97 to...
