Thanks all for your comments. We've done the EB before and were on the correct side of the train for the Hudson so if we cannot change seats, we'll be fine. In general, the Adirondack appears to be similar to the Cascades so I don't expect too many surprises. I'll keep checkin this forum for...

The source was on a cruising form I follow (the chat line was about taking trains to Vancouver from Seattle). One respondent said that in 2015 there would be only one train out of Seattle. I doubted that info and so here I am (again) seeking a more qualified answer.

Last year, on our way to NYP, we tried to peek into the Grand Hall but it was occupied for a fancy dress reception. A good use for the space. On our way back we went in and saw it in all its' grandure. Skyguy

Yes, they do have a 'reception' in the dining car as the train waits in the station for departure but they close up shop shortly after pulling out because the staffs' shifts end. It was a lot of fun. There was, however, no similar reception from NYP on the way back.
