    Share a Coke with...Amtrak

When I drank soda, I liked Coke products. Now I just drink water, seltzer water (Spindthrift is my choice), or unsweet iced and hot teas. I don't like Gold Peak since it's not strong enough. Oh well.

LSL Meal (ALB to BOS) & Luggage Storage at BOS

I'm looking to take the LSL from ALB to BOS for fun later on in the year. Do they serve dinner for sleeper passengers? On a separate trip, I'll be taking the bus to BOS then the Downeaster later in the day. Can I use the baggage storage service at BOS? I know there is a $10 fee for it...

Is there any such thing as too much train time? (NYC-Montreal RT)

Speaking of scenery, I'm heading to Montreal tomorrow from NYP. I would like to sit on the left side up to Albany and then switch to the right side. How can I find out if the 2 cars will be full by the time we get to Albany? I've been on quite a few Empire Service and MNRR trains. So sitting...

NOLA to ATL: Coach vs Roomette vs Bedroom

Long time lurker, 2nd time poster. ha. I have taken the LSL (twice) and Cardinal from NYP to Chicago in coach. Then I have stayed in a roomette from Chicago to NOLA and Austin. This year I'm taking the Crescent from NOLA to ATL in early May. Then ATL to NYP a few days later. So far I've...

12 things you don't know about amtrak (well maybe not)

    2) Bikes are welcome. Bring your bike aboard on several routes or check it as baggage on others. Unfortunately, no riding in the aisles or between cars is allowed. Darn it! That would have been sooo much fun. :giggle:

    Texas Eagle 21 & 421 Roomette Prices

Thanks for the replies. I just realized that I didn't state that the origin is Chicago. But the "airline" comparison, as the_traveler made, does make sense.

    Texas Eagle 21 & 421 Roomette Prices

I've been reading this board long enough to know the answer. But I'll ask anyway. Why are the prices of a roomette for TE 21 & 421 different when the destination is Dallas? For Austin, the prices are the same.

Decisions, Decisions (Which Train Do I Take?)

As mentioned before, I booked the LSL/TE route. But I looked at the regional/Capitol Limited combo with the TE and it's the same price as the LSL/TE. So I think I may do that. I have a question about the DC station though: is there somewhere in the station I can stow my luggage if I'm in...

Decisions, Decisions (Which Train Do I Take?)

Thanks for the suggestions! As of this post, it looks like the LSL/Tx Eagle is the option I'm going with. The price of the Cresent is beyond my reach (that's what I get for being indecisive). And if I was paying attention  , I would have seen that the Cardinal/Texas Eagle combo isn't...

Decisions, Decisions (Which Train Do I Take?)

I took a rail trip to NOLA from NYC. I rode coach on the Lake Shore Limited (LSL?). Stayed overnight in Chicago. Bought some wine and snacks for the roomette ride on the City of New Orleans (CONO). Flew back home from NOLA. I loved the experience of traveling long distance I'm planning on...
