I would like to get a list of cars used on the different Amtrak routes. Is there such a thing?

I tried search but came up with nothing.

For the most part anything running west of Chicago will be Superliners, anything east will be single levels. The Northwest Coast uses Talgos, California uses the California Cars. The NEC uses the Acela & Amfleets. Exceptions include the Autotrain, Capitol Limited, & Coast Starlight uses Superliners. Bout it. oh Corridor trains around Chicago use Horizons.

Did I miss anything?

There's a consist thread around here somewhere (though it focuses on long-distance trains).

Coast Starlight, Empire Builder, California Zephyr, Southwest Chief, Texas Eagle, Sunset Limited, City of New Orleans, Capitol Limited, Auto Train -> bi-level Superliner cars. Coach class and sleeper class.

Cascades in Northwest -> single level Talgo equipment

Surfliners in California -> bi-level California cars

Acela Express -> special high-speed aerodynamic trainsets. Business and First class. No coach

Lake Shore Limited, Silver Star, Silver Meteor, Crescent, Cardinal -> Amfleet coach cars and Viewliner sleeper cars

Northeast Regionals, Carolinian and various corridor services in Midwest -> Amfleet or Horizon coach and business class cars. Some use bi-level Superliners too.

See the "Line Numbers/Consists" thread in the FAQ section. The first post of the thread is up-to-date.

Also, most locomotives are P42DCs. Electric locomotives are either the AEM-7 or HHP-8. For more info, check out the On-Track On-Line equipment roster.

The Lakeshore, the silvers and the Crescent use heritage diners and baggage and Amfleet cafe cars.
