    Last time I had a problem with Amtrak customer relations called me while I was still on the train. The rep gave me his number and asked me to call him when I got home. I did at got my $200 voucher.

    Before our last trip on the CS I remember reading something about open toe shoes not being allowed. I wore sandals any way as I always have. I bring flip flops for going to the head at night.

    There is a Holiday Inn at Fisherman's Wharf that my wife have stayed in a few times. reasonably priced and in a safe area.

    Hotels are in this mix as well. When I travel to a city that has an airport mass transit connection I look for hotels within walking distance to that transit line.

    train noise

    Some years ago I rented an apartment in Anaheim Hills. This was right next to the tracks that go up the cajon grade I believe. At night the horns would blow and there I was wishing I was on that train.

    Speaking of "ADA" related complaints.

    Though I am not deaf I am profoundly hearing impaired. My wife is deaf in one ear and impaired in the other. I always inform the SCA of this when boarding. I ask that they let us know when our dinner reservations are called and when there are important announcements made. It has never worked out...

    The $200 voucher I have is from a train being late. My wife and I often take The Surfliner from Anaheim to San Diego which would cost less than the voucher amount. Will Amtrak give me credit back in the form of another voucher for the remaining amount?

    I am diabetic as well. Like you I am well controlled by diet and exercise. I find it easy to eat low carb in the dining car

    Mine is of me outside the Southwest Chief in Albuquirky NM. My wife insisted on taking the photo even though I thought I looked too thin and over dressed.
