    Into LA

A couple of weeks ago there was a discussion re how long one could stay on the Sunset Limited in LA after arrival. The SCA in my sleeper last week came around to each berth the night before we arrived, and asked us what time we would like to be woken in the morning. He informed us we had to...

    So far, So good

Arrive in LA at 7.00am after 14 hours, booked into my hotel, freshened up and then walked down to LA Union Station for National Train Day. What a great idea, we could do with in Australia. 1000's of people, milling around gathering lots of different information on train trips available, scenic...

    At long last

My 7600 mile journey on Amtrak starts on the 12th. It has come around very quickly since I booked last year. By the end of it I will have done 19500 miles on Amtrak in the last 5 years. This is now considerably more miles than I have done on Australian rail, however at roughly a 1/3 of the...

I have searched the Amtrak site, but I cannot find an answer. Is the lounge in Chicago available as well, prior to...

    CZ late

The Amtrak Status Map shows the CZ No.5 leaving Glenwood Springs 7 hrs 6 mins late. It left Chicago 3 hrs 47 mins late. Was there a derailment or other problem on the line, does anyone know?

    My apologies

May I apologise for posting comments on this forum, without first introducing myself. I neglected to read there was a section for introductions. I am from Australia, and have travelled a fair bit on Amtrak over the last 3 or 4 years. I'm booked again to travel from LA tot Seattle/Seattle to...

    Southwest Chief

Mention is made in the September issue of "Trains", that in the near future the Southwest Chief could shift off the Albuquerque, Raton Pass, Trinidad CO route in favour of BNSF Railway's Transcon via Amarillo. Does anyone know what route the train would take and what towns it would pass through...
