I'm in Boston at the end of the month to see an exhibition and have opted to spend the weekend in New York, i'm taking the Acela on the Saturday morning so i can maximise time spent, however my starting point prior to Boston is the UK so unless i can make arrangements with where i'm staying in...

We've done GBB-KCY and KCY-LAX rtn and we got as far as Winslow, AZ yesterday on the SWC (had to detrain as lil un got sick :( ) Its a really nice route, got some great scenery, hopefully we'll pick it up again tomorrow to get back to LAX :)

When i took the 6 on Thursday it was running 3 hours behind, but compared to the 5 we'd taken on Tuesday being 4 and a half hours late it was almost nothing :)

Hows the situation going with the CZ at the moment, I see Omaha is still being bypassed but Amtrak.com has no information on this and when i checked for Tuesday (when we're supposed to be going to Omaha) it had nothing, is it still buses from Creston? I also noticed that #6 is suffering service...

If it was only a day trip then it'd be ok for me, my 4 year old is far to independent :cool: but overnight i'd much rather she be with me and i'm guessing most people would agree with that

The first trip i took on Amtrak i got confused by no reserved seating, i get far to used to trains where it is not advised to even travel if you don't have a reserved seat :ohboy: Slightly worried now, only on two of the trips that we'll take on Amtrak in July will we board at the starting...

True i guess if you're paying, if you were using points/miles however.. It also depends on why you're going

Amtrak's saying westbound service (number 5) will resume from Chicago from 6/16 :)

Heathrow, Gatwick and Schipol Airports all have Yotel (theres also one in NYC) which was built on from the Japanese Capsule idea, can be reserved for a minimum of 4 hours and have bed, tv, wc and shower :) Great for early morning flights whether you're coming or going or for long layovers...

Thanks for the clarification :) I forgot about trainsets being in different places plus the distance/change in time zones. Amtrak are now saying that disruption is expected through June 14th for Eastbound trains and June 15th for Westbound trains for the CZ
