After switching trains to the LSL and having Bob as our attendant I can see why Andy thought Miguel wasn't that great. Bob was amazing, very good energy. Since I started eastbound I had Miguel first, he was nice, but if we're heading westbound with Bob first, anyone would be a tough act to follow.
To update... Me and my husband both fit comfortably on the bottom bed, with my daughter on the small bottom bunk. My son slept on the top small bunk with no problems.
Also in this scenario I would consider coach as opposed to cramming in one roomette. Luggage, even small bags will take up precious room. In the daytime config. you would have way more legroom and personal space in coach.
It will be tight, I'm in a viewliner roomette this exact moment. My 3 year old daughter and I are on the bottom bunk and it was too tight to lay side by side. It works head to toe.
Well maybe the letter worked or maybe Miguel was having a bad day/trip with Adam, but he's been pretty great with us. Above and beyond. Like when my husband stayed with the kids and I went wine tasting he brought a cheese plate and wine cup to him in our room.
Not trying to be all braggy, just...
On EB right now and guess who our attendant is... Miguel. So far he has been friendly, just got on 2 hours ago. We didn't get an amenity bag, we don't need it so its a non-issue at the moment.
I'm back (OP here).
I wouldn't put my three year on the top bunk. She's way too squirmy. I was thinking I'd put my son (who is an extremely tall 5 year old) and husband on the top bunk and me and my daughter (3 year old) on the bottom. We are packed for the trip and have zero space for the...
I just found a you tube video that mentions the netting. I hadn't heard that in my research yet. It seems pretty secure so that's nice. As Amtrak Blue said, it would serve as bumper to keep kids from rolling out... totally DIY. I'm not sure if my kids would roll over it or not. They don't have...
Hi new here. Been lurking for several months. I've travelled commuter routes (up and down West coast) on trains before and in Europe but taking my first cross country trip with my family in a week.
I searched in the threads for this but didn't find it covered. I am traveling PDX to ERI with a 3 and 5 year old. We have a family bedroom one leg (Empire Builder) and two roomettes the second leg (Lake Shore Limited).
I am worried my 3 year old will fall out of the bed, we are putting the kids...
