it depends if you are booked on a throughway bus or not. amtrak only does one train a day up to vancouver, and it leaves seattle around 9am. all the other trips are on a bus, and from my (many) experinces, the customs at the bus crossing seems to be much more "thorough," so be prepared

I actually was just got back from NO, and it was a very fun trip The station is in downtown, right by the Superdome. I wouldnt be too worried walking around in the daytime in that area. I took a cab from the station to out hotel on Bourbon St. and it was less than $10, so thats another...

Just did that trip a few weeks ago. It was long and sold out. Bring a camera and a book, and try to enjoy yourself. We were about 8 hours late when we got to Los Angeles
