Wyoming detour on CZ

I am booked on the CZ from Sacremento to Denver on Aug. 20. According to the website that week falls into the 'detour schedule'. Is there any chance we won't get detoured?

Well there's always a slight chance, but I sure wouldn't hold my breath either.

It is very unlikely that you will not take the detour. The Union Pacific is completely rebuilding a 20+ mile portion of the line (ballast, concrete ties, rail) With the windows running through the end of September, it is unlikely the detour plans on August 20 will be cancelled. The UP is juggling manpower, equipment and logistics to perform the work, so the schedule seems about as firm as anything in the Rockie Mountains can be. It may end early, but not that early.
