What wouldn't you pack on your next trip?

I have always brought several books with me that I never read. I will stick next time with John Pitt's "USA by Rail".

I would not bring as many clothes as I thought I'd need initially.

There was a period of time that I actually brought two laptops with me in case one broke down or was stolen or something. The motherboards on our Dell 630 Latitudes had a 30% failure rate, the DVD drives were closer to 50% and the batteries had something close to an 80% failure rate! Talk about a piece of crap.

I'd leave the extra sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets at home. On my first Amtrak trip we were soooo cold all day and all night. Never wanting to go through that again I tend to take anything warm.

Haha....looks like the consensus is DON'T bring books! No problem there -- I'll have my trusty Kindle with me jampacked with a variety of reading material. Looks like I can lose the toolbox of odds and ends to make room repairs, too.

I'm hoping the weather will be warm so I can leave behind the sweater, too. That thing is heavy and bulky, but at my age unfortunately something I have to consider having around.
