A remarkably good cafe. If you think museum food is all warmed over burgers and chicken nuggets, think again.

One thing I wanted to add about Alexandria, VA: across the street from the Metro/Amtrak/VRE station are three Hilton brand hotels (Hilton, Hampton Inn, Embassy Suites). They allow you to book a room for day use; you might want to do that in order to sleep on a real bed and have access to a shower while you wait for your train.
