I'm glad this wasn't moved to "somewhere else" where I would not have bothered reading it.

But Mr. Buffett seems to have made some very good bets on the direction of our economy over the decades for sure!! Especially as it relates to BNSF and their business. Could indeed be "dumb luck", but in his case I highly doubt that.
Well, he's pushed for government leadership that separates him from a lot of business. But apparently he analyzed the whole business of pipeline construction and export of new-found oil, and concluded the price of BNSF was too low. He invests for value, so the fact that BH bought the railroad shows how he reads the fortunes of the business. Plus it gives him a more direct handle on some infrastructure. He doesn't have to "wat forCongress to act".
