Based on the September mechanical report, it appears Amtrak has canceled any further conversions of Superliner diners and lounges into diner-loungers. It notes the program was canceled by corporate. This is not surprising based on the poor performance of these cars on the long distance trains. Anyone have any further information about this. What do they plan to do with cars already converted?

Respectfully submitted,

Steve

Continue to run them until they fall apart.

Crews will just have to make due.

Passengers will still get the benefit of a newly re-done Diner PLUS retain the Sightseer.

Maybe, if someone gets bold, AMTRAK might rework the crew sections, but I would not wait on that.

But I might beat on AMTRAK at least cosmetically updating the remaining cars, including the Sightseer

My wish list:

AMTRAK add one staff to the train

not cram everyone into the smallest possible Diner seating spaces

open the shorter area for Coach while the larger area would be for Sleepers

Update the menu more frequently

and COOK MORE ONBOARD.
