We are scheduled to be on the #29 from Washington, DC to Chicago on the 5th of August and return on the #30 from Chicago to Washington on the 16th of August. SHOULD WE WORRY. and what to do about it????

If you mean the possible cancellations of the CL east of Cumberland, the alert has disappeared from amtrak.com. That does not mean that the alert is over

, but I can't remember when the change was supposed to end.

What's to worry about? The worst that can happen is that you will be bustituted from Pittsburgh to Washington DC on the 17th if #30 is running more than 90 mins late into Pittsburgh. Based on the OTP of the CAP over the last several months, there is just a 1 in 5 chance that you will face bustitution.

Sounds like someone's been watching too much Fox News. Calm down. Relax. Turn off the TV for a bit and maybe drink some tea.

It means that the alert will be reinstated effective the 24th. Its start has been postponed to next Sunday. To trackwork this coming week so no chance of cancellation for that reason.
