According to Amtrak alerts, this train (Chicago to DC) has experienced a service disruption. It had been running very close to schedule through Connellsville, which it left at 6:59 a.m., then wham. My sympathies to the passengers, wherever they are.
Was wondering who would post this first. Guess Acela150 slept in this morning.Good ol' Crash Spill eXplode at work again I see.
Yes, for now.30 is on the move east. I wonder if it has passengers still aboard...
They need a place to turn the train around, so I suspect Cumberland is the closest place to DC to do that since that's what Jis suggested and the fact that that's where it stopped.
It looked like it was west of the NEC tracks but not far from the Ivy City yards.
The force is strong with this one. <_<Yes, for now.30 is on the move east. I wonder if it has passengers still aboard...

The consist is apparently deadheading west to PGH where it will meet the buses for 29.Indeed, according to reports elsewhere, busing is happening, from/to Point of Rocks today, with the consist turning there.

Crash Spill Xplode is legit in this case... considering the local ABC affiliate reported the train made a Haz Mat spill..
No problems as far as clearance, we've detoured over the Old Main Line to Bailey's in Baltimore and ran back down the Capital Sub to Washington with Superliners before. The Point of Rocks/Relay reroute also occurred to me, but I don't know whether there are other problems, such as clearance for Superliners.
If this route is chosen, it would be truly rare mileage for the train and the passengers. This is the B&O's "Old Main Line", first surveyed in the 1820's and forming part of the country's first common carrier mainline. The Metropolitan Branch serving Washington was built later.

I prefer Crash Smash eXplode, but I figured a little adaption wouldn't work.Yuppppp Slept in today.. Like major slept in.. This should be workable, especially if the excursion originates and terminates in Baltimore. There is no wye at Relay, so turning there would involve a reverse move. Your problem would be talking CSX into it.That's good to know, my dream of a Cap, Old Main, Met triangle excursion is alive.
