My wife suffers from severe depression and following her doctor's reccomendation got a small dog for theraputic reasons. Can we travel with it

Service animals are welcome aboard Amtrak trains. The owner is responsible for any and all care necessary regarding that animal. The on board personel are not required to accept responsibilty in any way other than to provide the necessary assistance while traveling with us if so requested by the owner. Also keep in mind if the service animal is to take up revenue space, an additional ticket may be required unless you are traveling in private sleeper accomodations. Service animals are welcome in our food service and lounge areas, too, again provided they are kept under the control and care of the owner. For additional info you can call the 800 number, and also you should have notification placed in the special request area of the manifest on the dates as well as all trains you will be traveling traveling.
