Service continues without interruption Following the landfall of Hurricane Rita, Amtrak has implemented a revised service plan for its trains to and from Texas. Plans are in place for the Texas Eagle and Sunset Limited through September 25, when an update on these temporary service suspensions will be issued on Amtrak.com and to the news media.
Passengers wishing to travel in the area for the next several days should closely monitor the Amtrak website or call 800-USA-RAIL for the latest information.
Amtrak is offering full refunds and waiving all fees for passengers who made reservations on the affected trains on the affected dates. Amtrak is notifying passengers about these temporary service suspensions.
Southbound Texas Eagle, train 21/321/421
The Texas Eagle scheduled to originate in Chicago on September 25 will operate only between Chicago and Saint Louis on September 25 and between Fort Worth and San Antonio on September 26 (with alternate transportation only between Dallas and Fort Worth, through an arrangement with Trinity Rail Express).
Amtrak is closely monitoring reports from the National Weather Service and the Union Pacific Railroad regarding service between Saint Louis and Fort Worth by the Texas Eagle scheduled to originate in Chicago on September 26.
Northbound Texas Eagle, train 22/322/422
The Texas Eagle scheduled to originate in San Antonio on September 25 will originate instead in Saint Louis on September 26. The Texas Eagle scheduled to originate in San Antonio on September 26 will operate only between San Antonio and Fort Worth (with alternate transportation only between Fort Worth and Dallas Worth through an arrangement with Trinity Rail Express) and between Saint Louis and Chicago on September 27.

The Sunset Limited scheduled to originate in Los Angeles on September 25 will operate to San Antonio. The Sunset Limited scheduled to originate in San Antonio on September 27 will operate to Los Angeles.
Heartland Flyer, trains 821 & 822
Heartland Flyer service between Fort Worth and Oklahoma City is operating normally.
Amtrak stations in Fort Worth and Dallas are open. Other Amtrak stations on the Texas Eagle route between Fort Worth and San Antonio will reopen September 25 and stations on the Sunset Limited route between Los Angeles and San Antonio will reopen on September 26. Stations between Dallas and Saint Louis on the Texas Eagle route will remain closed due to the temporary service suspension. Customers will be assisted by calling 800-USA-RAIL.
Amtrak Thruway Motorcoach Connections to and from the Texas Eagle at Longview, Texas, are suspended through September 26, due to the service disruption.
