Peak Travel Season Over on the Zephyr

For the past two nights, Amtrak #5 has gone west with only two sleeping cars on the end. The California Zephyr travels with three sleepers on the end for the summer travel season. I take this to mean the peek travel season is over.

Must be true also for Silver Meteor. A week ago, she traveled north with and Amcan between the engine and baggage car, with her usual five coaches. Every night since she has had only four coaches, although last night she again had an empty coach behind the engine...And Silver Bit tagging along at the end. CJ

Tonight is the first time I have seen 98 with only two viewliners. Still carrying only four coaches, but always has three sleepers. Now, this weekend has be bustitution to JAX from MIA, but you would think they might need the third sleeper coming back south...CJ
