Pacific Parlour Car on #4 Leaving LA 4/9

Amtrak sent out a Pacific Parlour car (39973) on the back of the Southwest Chief today. I assume it's off to Beech Grove for some work.

Didn't they supposedly pull the parlor cars out of service in January through March for service? . Does anyone know if something major went wrong with this car? These cars are such a major bonus on the Starlight and with Amtrak management's "no amenities left behind" mindset, I just get jumpy at times like this...

They are. I was on the CS three weeks ago and spent most of my time on my round trip between Seattle and Los Angeles in the PPC both directions.

I wondered that too, but that's 39973, Santa Lucia Highlands. The one that had the fire was 39975, Willamette Valley.
