From Seattle, WA Post-Intelligencer, 6/3/05:

Bring your own pillow — and make the trip this month or next, if you can.
Those are my two key pieces of advice to anyone considering traveling on the Empire Builder, Amtrak's train between here and Chicago.
Nice to see rail travel featured in the newspaper travel columns. This one is here.

I've been fortunate enough to have taken three round trip excursions from Chicago on the EB. One in the winter and two in the summer. One was to Seattle while the other two were to Spokane.

That was an excellent article to get the feel of the trip. Very well done.

I too enjoyed this newspaper article, many thanks for bringing it to our attention. The one low point for me is that it emphasises the difference between a professional writers skilled use of language, and my own amateur trip reports!

I felt in tune with the writer, and enjoyed his comparison between the outward and return trips.
