Our first trip is coming up in August on the Emoire Builder. We are going to stay over in Glacier Park for a couple of days, and I'm trying to see what happens if we decided to extend our stay by a day.

1) Is there a charge to get the next day's train from what's scheduled, and

2) Is the a chance the next train would be full (and therefore not available)?

From what I understand, if you make a change you will owe the difference between your existing reservation and the new fare. If (by chance) the new fare is lower than what you paid for your existing reservation, you will either receive a refund of the difference, minus a 10% penalty, or you will receive the full difference in the amount of a travel credit voucher that can be used for future Amtrak travel.

There is certainly the possibility that the next day's train will be sold out, so it's always advisable to make plans ahead of time.

I thought you got charged $35.00 per ticket for changing a reservation.
