I found this on Yahoo:
"I think dish soaps are harsh for your hands as they have strong additives for taking grease off the dishes (as in Dawn); that would definately dry your hands out; whereas, a lot of your hand soaps have conditioners in them to give oils back into your hands, which you...
On my round trip last December ABQ-SAN I moved three times to accomodate people traveling together (I was traveling alone)
It didn't bother me. It allowed me to sit alone, rather than sharing with one half of a couple.
Reading those links, I recall having read them yesterday, somewhere.
For what it's worth (not much, I suspect) these are the two links I had found:
north bound
south bound
Out of curiosity, I Googled the Pacific Parlor Car menus. There's a PDF for each, the north bound and south bound,
but neither link worked. I got this message on both links :
"Oops! We're having a problem with the page you requested."
How is disrespect for your fellow passengers and violating Amtrak regulations being "respectful" ?
I enjoy the ocassional drink, but "if I'm on a train, it's a vacation" ~ as it is for many families with children.
If you can't travel without drinking your beer, get a room; or Amtrak may not...
I went to the station to buy it (had to go downtown anyway), as I couldn't get what I wanted online. Even doing multi-city, I'd get an error code.
The Amtrak lady also had difficulty, so she had the manager work some magic on the computer terminal.
My problem was that Amtrak wanted to give me...
I don't have your answer, but I'm thinking you must really love Chicago do go all that traveling to spend one day there.
Or, you really love riding the rails and just need a day of rest in between. :giggle:
Hope you get your wish.
Those Gold seats, while not the same as AMTRAK seats, look pretty good to me.
The AMTRAK coach seats I sat on last December on the west bound SWC were so uncomfortable that I'm bringing an 'eggcrate' cushion to sit on,
(and I've got plenty of my own natural cushioning).
I found myself...
I don't sit that way, anywhere.
And when I've been on a train, I stick my feet straight forward, on or off the footrest, as I usually have a small bag with my medicine, water, and snacks on the floor ~ and my legs rest atop the bag.
I read the linked Lancaster online article. Reads like a hit piece from someone who really hates Amtrak.
As was stated above, the GOP wants to get rid of funding for AMTRAK.
The US is already far behind most major countries in modernizing rail passenger service.
US infrastructure ~ highways...
When did e-tickets go into effect?
Last December, I got off in Fullerton and boarded the Pacific Surfliner to SAN (with a few other travelers who urged me to join them in doing so).
I had reservations for Business class, and my ticket was readily accepted.
My luggage went on to LAX and then...
Well, now that's something to think about.
Maybe I'll just do the ABQ-LAX-SAN. Saving a few bucks isn't that big a deal for me.
I was looking more at saving time. But if that free time is spent sitting in Fullerton a few hours, it's not worth it.
Can a red cap get me from the SWC to the...
As a single male passenger I agree with all the tips 'JoanieB' has given, and I thank her for the pix, which I'm sending on to some friends who have never traveled by train.
I'll add that on my few trips most of my fellow passengers have been quite friendly, engaging you in conversation or...
That is how I tried booking it - using the multi-city tab.
I did book last December's trip online, but went to go to the station to get my ticket.
Maybe they'd mail it, but I don't like that option.
