Thanks for this. I seem to remember something similar on the old Texas Eagle timetable (when you were scheduled to get into LA at like 7:15 but often found yourself with an hour and a half to travel the 20 miles between the 2nd to last stop and LAX).

I'd be arriving in Chicago on a business class ticket and leaving a few hours later on the Wolverine (again in business class). Would I be able to access the Met Lounge, or is it strictly for passengers with sleeper accommodations?

The issue is that the cc numbers have changed (at least for me--maybe other people's experience is different). My AGR credit card is no longer valid.

DC already has one of the better big city stations in the country. Wish they'd take that same money and use it to upgrade Los Angeles Union Station.

Nice post. You also touched on one thing you tend to find more often on a train than any other form of public transportation: passengers helping passengers (as opposed to griping about infants acting like such babies with their crying, complaining about other passengers moving around, etc)...
