I'd be arriving in Chicago on a business class ticket and leaving a few hours later on the Wolverine (again in business class). Would I be able to access the Met Lounge, or is it strictly for passengers with sleeper accommodations?

Metropolitan Lounge

Metropolitan Lounges are available in Chicago - Union Station, Los Angeles - Union Station and Portland, OR - Union Station to sleeping car passengers, business class passengers with a same-day travel ticket (departure or arrival) and Amtrak Guest Rewards Select Plus or Select Executive members. Relax and enjoy comfortable, quiet lounge seating, complimentary non-alcoholic beverages, snacks, and internet access. Attendants are available to assist with reservations, ticketing and local information.

I'd note that it's not quite complete. Someone with a lounge pass would also be able to access a lounge. I still have my Select Plus membership but I have never been to an Amtrak lounge. I suppose I could have done a quick in and out in Portland when I took the Coast Starlight.

Yes, you can use the Metropolitan Lounge in Chicago.and Los Angeles. I have done so as recently as October in Chicago. It is advisable to head to the gate on your own before the train is announced since being escorted from the lounge is hit or miss. There is priority boarding for business class AT THE GATE along with senior adults in coach or business class.

They may have changed the jargon again, but the last time I was in CHI, "priority" was the word used for those boarding from the new Legacy lounge. What you are referring to was called "assisted". It included handicapped and those with small children as well.

I was through Chicago twice recently (late October and early Nov '15) and it seems lots of changes happening. The "Grand Hall" had a good sized Amtrak Pavilion in the center where people were lining up to board trains. Tickets were being checked, etc. Also saw where the Metropolitan Lounge is being relocated to along that long, underground corridor that connects the Great Hall with the rest of the station and track gates. Perhaps Amtrak was "testing" new pedestrian patterns?
