Any updates on the lease for 2 additional Talgo units and replacement for the wrecked Charger?

    Amtrak Siemens Charger locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2015 - 1Q 2024)

Where did the wreck go? Was it sent back to Siemens in Sacramento?

    Amtrak Cascades equipment future

What happened to the Charger locomotive? Was it scrapped? Sent back to Siemens in Sacramento to be salvaged for parts?

    Amtrak Cascades equipment future

They are doing fine without the train set and locomotive because they want back to the old 4 trains daily between Seattle and Portland schedule. With the Point Defiance bypass route, the plan is to run 6 daily trains, which requires the 7 trainsets they previously had. I know I have seen plenty...

    Amtrak Cascades equipment future

There's no need to be so smug. I spoke plain simple English. I mean exactly what I asked. The WSDOT page specifically says Amtrak has committed to replace the lost equipment. https://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Rail/questions-answers-derailment.htm

    Amtrak Siemens Charger locomotive (SC44, ALC42, ALC42E) (2015 - 1Q 2024)

Anyone know what was the fate of 1402, the wrecked Charger from the derailment last year?

With plans to resume the Point Defiance route next spring after the implementation of PTC, does anyone know what the plans are for replacing the lost equipment from the derailment, the Charger locomotive and Talgo set? What happened to the Charger locomotive, I assume it was scrapped? I know...

    Seattle King Street Station

There is some track side construction that started last month to add a new platform/canopy and extend tracks north towards the station. Right across from the station, there is an Embassy Suites high-rise hotel under construction. The station itself while nice, is lacking in amenities...

Empire Builder reversing into Seattle King Street Station

This is good news, I assume the track extensions and new platform are from converting the storage track on the west side of the station.

Empire Builder reversing into Seattle King Street Station

Maybe you're right about the Coast Starlight, but Cascades sets routinely use the stub tracks. See this shot I took during a Sounders game last summer before it departed to Portland.

Empire Builder reversing into Seattle King Street Station

Just took a look at the Amtrak schedule, and I guess the conflict might be with the Amtrak 513 from Vancouver which is scheduled to arrive half an hour after the Empire Builder is scheduled to arrive (assuming they're on time). It's too bad the Sounder platforms aren't utilized in such...

Empire Builder reversing into Seattle King Street Station

I've seen some videos that show the Empire Builder going past the station and then reversing into one of the stub tracks at Seattle King Street Station. Why is this done and is this practice still done? Why not just stop at the thru track, unload the passengers, and pull away to the yard? To...
