    Amtrak stations mapped by ridership

If you're thinking of the Kentucky Cardinal, then no, that never ran south of Louisville. (At the start of its service, it actually didn't cross the Ohio and ended in Jeffersonville.....) If I recall correctly, though, there is Thruway bus service to Nashville.

Some questions about the Cardinal (Huntington to Washington)

The problem with Metro fares is it all depends on where and when you're going. Union Station-Crystal City at 12 Noon is a different price than at 8AM (during rush). And a different price than Union Station-Bethesda at either time, unless by coincidence. But the fare combinations from any given...

    National Train Day 2013!

It's the same for me. Maybe we'll have groups in both Philly and DC?

    Waterloo, IN/Fort Wayne

Oh, I totally understand the reasons for the inconvenience. It doesn't mean it's convenient. :-)

punctuality of the Fort Worth-Austin train?

One place to look around for this info is the Amtrak Status Maps. The train you're asking about is the Texas Eagle, and its on-time performance can be found here: http://www.dixielandsoftware.com/Amtrak/status/StatusPages/TexasEagleStatus.htm.

    National Train Day 2013!

I haven't seen anything definite, but the indications on here seem to suggest that a group will be meeting at PHI. A shame; if I go to anything, it's much more likely to be WAS. I'd be happy to meet up with anyone else going there.

    Waterloo, IN/Fort Wayne

True. But the timing on the stop isn't excellent, and unless you actually live in Waterloo (which is hardly a metropolis) you've got to work out the logistics of getting there: do you leave your car there? Can someone get you a ride? Yes, it's better than nothing. But it's not exactly high on...

Thanks for the info. Kinda makes this stop a pain for its market, doesn't it?

    Waterloo, IN/Fort Wayne

I'm looking into taking the Cap Limited WB to Waterloo, IN. I'd need to get from there to Fort Wayne, IN. Does anyone know anything about cabs, shuttle buses, or any such thing to get into Fort Wayne?

As a grad student, I can't afford it even if It is for business!

    Name That Station!

I'm FROM the Midwest (hence my handle), in the mid-Atlantic (it does count as the Northeast, I suppose, I'm along the corridor), and soon moving to the Southeast....

    Taxes

While the TurboTax free version works for Federal taxes, it's not available for state taxes, so that should be a way of earning a few points.

    Amtrak Fare Difference Policy

Then you would have gotten an eVoucher for $65. Since the money wouldn't be paid out to you (cash or refund to a card) then you wouldn't have a refund fee of 10% applied.

    Amtrak Fare Difference Policy

I know the 10% is their standard refund policy if you get the refund as cash or back on your card. You only get the whole amount as a eVoucher (Amtrak's version of store credit). See this: from http://www.amtrak.com/refund-and-exchange-policy HoosierStater
