No drama, no freak out, no complaining - just great customer service. And largely because of their efforts I had one of my most memorable days of the summer - riding the train and bicycling for 40+ miles along Lake Michigan.
That's it in a nutshell. Glad you had a great ride!

Well, thread bump, I got to see the Texas Eagle meet in Fort Worth Thursday and today (Saturday). 3 of the 4 trains did not have baggage cars. Today’s 21 was the lucky candidate with the full baggage and was the only train without a coach/baggage. I’m not sure if this is a winter thing, a short term thing, or a new permanent thing as on the 10th, I’m pretty sure both trains had them, but I know 22 did for sure.

The Sunset had one and it was busy at the stops leaving Lax 12/30z
A few weeks ago, I was passing by El Paso Union Station and I did indeed see the Sunset Limited / Texas Eagle (west bound 1 /  421) with a baggage car.  Not sure if Amtrak Express package service has been restored though since I didn't stop by the station.
