An account on a Yahoo! Group site of this incident comes from a member of Pro Rail Nebraska, an affiliate of NARP located in that state.

The westbound California Zephyr #5(22) pulled into the Omaha station several minutes early. Its Denver-based crew was on its way to relieve the crew that was going off in Omaha. The relief crew was late in arriving at the train, because the driver of their van from the hotel was inside a store in Council Bluffs, IA (across from Omaha, NE), when the store was robbed. The van driver was held near the site of the robbery as a possible witness. This resulted in the crew coming on duty 30 minutes late, and the train thus retaining that defecit in its schedule.
