Access the Park

CANADA: VIA Rail Canada has introduced accessible sleeping compartments for two people on its flagship Toronto – Vancouver Canadian service as part of a programme to refurbish its 1950s-built stainless-steel coaches.

Four of the Park series observation cars are being modified, following experience with accessibility improvements to the Renaissance coaches used on the Montréal – Halifax Ocean.

At first, I was puzzled, thinking how can they ever make the domes accessible? Now I see that the accessibility is just for sleeper space.....

The only "accessible domes", if you can call them that, are the full double deck cars on some of the cruiseline operated Alaska RR cars, that feature an elevator between decks....
