Well, tomorrow I start to fulfill my dream of a transcontinental journey by rail. Boston to St Louis for a few days and then from St Louis to San Diego via the Texas Eagle and Pacific Surfliner. I figured I would share my progress and insights on Twitter. My iPhone allows me to tweet a Google map link of my exact location which I plan to do from time to time.

I'm following. I see you have an Amtrak map displayed, but the tweets overlay half the map. How do I see the whole map?

I don't think you can see the entire map. The best you can do is click on a single "tweet" (by clicking on the time it was posted). That links to a new page with just the individual entry (and more of the background).

For example:

Edit: I was wrong, you can see the entire background. However, you'll need to add a bookmark to your toolbar.

It works pretty well, although it seems like a fairly limited function.

Here's the full map where I highlighted my route: http://www.flickr.com/photos/andyotto/3554108058/
