Trip report WSS to FUL and Surfliner trip.......JAN 2015

Below is a link to my trip report on my January trip from WSS to FUL California via Cardinal and SWC. It also includes a side trip from FUL to San Diego Old TOwn on the Surfliner.

Overall a great trip. A frozen open coach door, frozen water on Superliners and jelled diesel fuel aside......anothe enjoyable trip. Amtrak crew was great....and the delays put us in places like Cajon Pass in the daylight.....so saw some different places any way! Report also has my stay in So Cal.....but skip it if not of interest.

Thanks for the great report. I have encountered many Amish on the SWC. Some of them keep to themselves, but others will converse. A few months ago on the CZ in Utah one morning there were two young Amish men from I believe Michigan, who had gone out west to tour National Parks. They had out guidebooks and maps and were having a great time. They work in construction and do not drive. One of their dads had arranged for a non-Amish friend to pick them up in his car at Denver and take them to visit relatives in southern Colorado. We had a very pleasant hour or two talking up a storm before Grand Junction.
