Transfer of luggage from EB to Bus to Vancouver

I am taking the Empire Builer to seattle, then transferring to the bus going to Vancouver BC. Does Amtrak do an automatic transfer to the bus with the baggage. I usually leave a day in between transfers, but this time I did not. I am checking my bags at Chicago for the baggage car there.

I think in your case you will have to transfer your bags.

The bus between Seattle and Vancouver that connects with the Empire Builder does not offer checked baggage service. Your checked bags will be delivered to you in Seattle. The trip on the bus will technically be "carry-on" luggage only, even though larger bags will physically be placed in the luggage bins of the bus. So, in Seattle, I believe you will have to first claim your checked bags from Amtrak and get them to the bus yourself.

You will have to claim your bags in SEA, but on the bus to VAC the bags will be placed in the luggage hold under the bus anyway.

I have done this before and you are on your own with your bags.
