Train Fares

I was wondering why the fare from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles is so much more expensive when traveling with a sleeper than going from Pittsburgh to Seattle with the same sleeper accomodations.

Can anyone help.

depends on a lot of factors. Amtrak has a pricing system similar to the airlines, its supply vs demand. Id bet there are more peple travelling to LA so there is more demand. Maybe try travelling on different dates, etc.

Empire Builder fares seem to be lower in the winter, you will probably find that they match or exceed the train fares to LA in the summer months.
