Can any one tell me where from Chicago, the "Plug", train number 17, went in 1978?

And, is there an reference place for all the Phases for Amtrak paint schemes?

I never heard it called the "Plug", but in 1978, Amtrak Train #17 was the North Coast Hiawatha. It operated three days a week from Chicago to Seattle via Minneapolis, Fargo, Bismarck, Billings, Butte, and Spokane. It was discontinued in 1979.

The former Gulf, Mobile and Ohio (Illinois Central Gulf by the time of Amtrak) commuter train to Joliet was nicked named the Plug. However, it was never an Amtrak train. The run was eventually taken over by Metra and is now known as the Heritage Corridor.
