For the Big E in West Springfield, MA (New England's biggest fair) you can take the train this year. Free shuttle bus connections will be offered at Springfield Union Station (SPG) to the fairgrounds and the shuttles bypass a lot of the traffic. Our local advocacy site in this area, Trains in the Valley, has a great resource showing the schedule for trains. Free shuttles are available connecting from trains from both the south (via Amtrak and CDOT's Hartford Line trains) and north (from the Valley Flyer and Vermonter) each Saturday and Sunday of the fair. In addition there will be shuttles connecting to train service from the south on the Hartford Line on Wednesday September 18th which is the fair's "Connecticut Day" (There are special days for certain states as well as certain local towns where residents pay a lower rate and have special events related to that state.) For information see https://trainsinthevalley.org/train-to-the-big-e/ .
