I'm riding this train westbound in SE Colorado. I've noticed the track is still pretty rough, still running at 60 MPH. There appears to be a slow order in effect at the site of the derailment at Cimmaron, KS, as we slowed to 45. I thought there were improvements lined up?

Improvements are lined up; they are not all completed yet.

Over at Railpictures.net, there are pictures of a Hertzog ballast train that has been running out of Raton dumping Ballast to realign rails on Raton Pass. Other work to replace worn rail is also taking place, just haven't seen pictures or updates. But the line is supposed to be rehabilitated over the next year so it won't be such a bumpy ride.

On the return (eastbound) trip my GPS clocked us going 74 in the La Junta area, shocking.
