I booked the Sunset Limited to New Orleans first of April, got as far as San Antonio and was bussed to Houston, then train again on to New Orleans. Is Amtrak going all the way to New Orleans now with no interruptions? Still flooding problems with bussing? If so, will take the Southwest Chief to Chicago then down to New Orleans (late October).

It's been fairly dry here for the past few weeks. No reports of any flooding. But... a cool front is expected this week. That could bring some isolated heavy rain. As anumberone said, check the forecasts.

It's Texas (and Louisiana). Not flooding now does not mean not flooding later. ;)

It's been raining like crazy over the last 24hrs here in SAS. Morning commute took twice as long due to all the accidents and whatnot. Didn't see anything completely flooded out but our city has had to spend many millions on flood control as the weather has become increasingly chaotic.

Unless a freak storm occurs ( which can't happen because Climate change is a Myth)you'll be OK.

The Sunset Ltd. to NOL through the swamps is the oldest continually run LD passenger route in the US and generally makes it even if Late. (usually)
