How much would it cost to upgrade to a sleeper once you've boarded?

If a room is available, and if the conductor will make the transaction for you, the cost is the same as the low-bucket price for that room.

It varies depending on how far you are going. I got upgraded outside of LA or somewhere in California for a bigger room for $200. There was two nights involved so we took it.
