Things to do within walking-distance of Santa Barbara Station: Any good places to eat? See? Preferably for little cost.

Several years ago I had lunch at a place called Joe's Cafe which was within walking distance of the station. Reasonable prices, I'm suspecting, for California. Nice place, not upscale but decidedly better than Denny's. I see it still exists.

Santa Barbara Pier and Boardwalk is a nice way to spend a little time

Chad's Cafe on Cabrillo Boulevard a couple blocks from the station is a very good breakfast/brunch spot with an ocean view (it's popular enough that there's almost always a line waiting). Once upon a time, it was the original location of the Sambo's chain.

Otherwise, there are plenty of restaurants on State Street north of the station.

Walk up to the Mission, or take a bus. It's one of the few still operating, and in a beautiful neighborhood, with a natural area and museum just past it.
