Sallisaw Oklahoma

I have a sister-in-law who lives in Sallisaw, Oklahoma near the railroad tracks and says the Amtrak passes by her house. I can't believe that is so. Could it ever have been rerouted through Sallisaw?

Very unlikely. I think Rock Island trains may have passed through going Memphis-Tucumcari-Los Angeles, but not Amtrak trains. Even the Lone Star is way off.

Sallisaw, OK, is located on UP (former MP) and KCS tracks I believe. It's hard to imagine an Amtrak detour through there.

The last passenger train through Salisaw,Ok was Kansas City Southern 's Southern Belle in November, 1969. I took that train several times in the last year. Salisaw is where the buses from Ft Smith,AR connected with the trains.

KS does operate a corporate train also called the Southern Belle as a public relations promotion.
