Is there any price break if you book round trip as opposed to one way ? I've been exploring the on line reservation system and it seems to me that every round trip coach ticket is exactly double that of one way. I'm only using coach as an example. I'm well aware the first class accomadations can vary in either direction by demand, thus differant prices when adding rooms.

Joe, I seen a few times where a round trip was cheaper than 2 one-way tickets. However, this is very rare and generally not the norm for Amtrak. Usually there is no discount for a round trip.

On the other hand, unlike airlines, there is no penalty for taking a one-way trip or open jawed trip as they call it.
