Thanks for your detailed report! Sounds like an interesting trip to take.

Coach class is much more cramped than Business class, especially since we are not in one of the new Venture coaches. No footrest on the seat backs, and narrower seats to fit the 2x2 configuration. Business class is totally worth it for the extra comfort on longer regional rides, and we will NOT be booking Coach seats on any future trips! (And not enough room to use the tray table in front of one's seat comfortably, so we will eat lunch at a table in the cafe car, if possible.)

Sounds like they are using Amfleet 1s unfortunately. I thought everything outside the NE corridor used the roomier A2's

My recommendation is to not try to refill water bottles from the train water supply. I just don’t entirely trust it. BC absolutely should provide unlimited drinking water/water bottles on request.

Amtrak does not have any cars with "dump on the track" toilets. Not for many years.

OK. You can tell it's been a VERY long time since I had last ridden on Amtrak!

There are usually a fair number of the Venture coaches on the Lincoln Service -- but no guarantee that one's seat will be in one of those.
