"Rail Sale"

It seems Amtrak's "Weekly Specials", formerly known as "Rail Sale", page has not changed in quite some time. Are they getting ready to dump this valuable feature? I hope not.

I know it was updated within the last 2 weeks.

I was wondering--if one buys a ticket weeks or months in advance at regular price and then amtrak has a rail sale for seats on that train, can one get a refund for the difference?

You have to cancel your prior reservation and rebook at the rail sale rate. You will then be entitled to either a full credit for the fare difference toward future travel or a refund of the fare difference less a 10% penalty charge.
