The December edition of "Conde Nast Traveler" magazine has a one-page positive article on Amtrak. After going on at some length about the usual troubles, it admits that loyal customers (and a growing number of new ones) prefer the comfort, business features (power outlets for laptops) and the low stress afforded on Amtrak. It further suggests that if Amtrak survives, it will be because of the loyalty of its core customers. It is a surprisingly positive article for this particular publication, which has a reputation for blind support of the airlines.
