The last solo train trip I took of any serious length was the Southern Crescent from Tallulah Falls, Georgia to Baltimore, Maryland, and that was back when they had a proper club car with a desk and stationery with Chessie the kitten on it, not to mention a porter to keep me supplied with tasty beverages.
In other words, I have a bit of catching up to do before I board the Texas Eagle in Chicago to travel to Austin, Texas, and I'm sincerely hoping to get a lot of information here for my trip!
