Yes it is free.
On a different note, I was all set to use the convenience of the app until I realized, based on another post, that AGR reward trips are not listed with the app. Being a bit technically challenged I'm not sure, as someone in the other post noted, how to save a trip from the AGR site onto my cellphone.
