A special Shout out to Amtrak and their dedicated employees who located and returned my cell phone after I inadvertently left it de-training in Martinez last Friday night. My phone traveled on to Seattle's King Street Station (SEA) for the extended journey, but was returned on the next train out once it was identified as mine. Today I picked it up at the Martinez Station, all nicely wrapped in plastic inside a cardboard box labeled 'Lost & Found'.

What a relief to have it back, but such an extra vacation treat to be shed of it and it's responsibilities for a few days.

Thank you Amtrak!

That is awesome news. Glad you got it back safe and sound.

I lost a small travel bag on a Surfliner train a bit over a year ago. The LA Lost and Found sent it all the way to Atlanta by Amtrak free of charge.

So yes... Amtrak Lost and Found can really come through!

Specifically the Coast Starlight crew going North (#14) July 1st and coming South (#11) July 4th, which apparently the same crew. Thanks folks (Don Mario, etc.) for looking out for your passengers and getting it done!

I would appreciate suggestions on how to get in touch with Lost & found at NY Penn station. Either a direct phone number or an email address would be most helpful. Getting past 'Julie' took time and when the helpful man at the ticket desk transfered my call to the Lost & found there was only an answering machine. I'm calling from Europe and there is a certain time difference. A possible call back in the middle of the night is no good. Travelling from NY to DC and return was a great experience.
